Integra to Launch the First Indian WAP Server

BANGALORE, - Bangalore based software company,Integra Micro Systems has made a foray into WAP technology, by developing the first Indian WAP server ‘Jataayu’ and the WAP gateway which will provide access to the WorldWideWeb. .

The new WAP server software from Integra is targetted at the wireless service providers who can enable the users of cell phones, pagers, palmtops, PDAs and all such sophisticated mobile devices to do online transactions and navigate through the various websites.

The WAP server connects WAP enabled devices to content and applications hosted by web servers.And the WAP gateway acts as an interface to the technologies used in the wireless devices and the Internet.

THE WAP Server throws up the myriad possibilities of the wireless environment.-like access to e-mail and instant information such as stock quotes and air-line flight information while on the go.With this, wireless access to internet and corporate intranet content and access to personal information becomes possible.Also consumers can benefit from e-commerce through the small screens of the wireless portal devices.

Commenting on the high potential of the WAP technology, Mahesh Jain, Managing Director, Integra Micro Systems, says “WAP offers a new opportunity that will re-define e-commerce and re-engineer the business processes.Also,we would be the fifth in the world to develop a WAP server after the global communication giants, Nokia, Ericsson IBM and Phone.com.

Integra has plans to tap at first the overseas markets, primarily the US and Europe considering the high potential of the WAP server.The company is seriously considering joint ventures with overseas companies in Europe and USA.

The WAP server is currently under Beta test and it is scheduled for commercial launch late this quarter.
